Teams walking out in Women's Champions League

Fresh off lifting the Asian Cup with Japan, Hinata Miyazawa came straight back into the starting XI under Marc Skinner, slotting into midfield in place of Simi Awujo. Lea Schuller was also brought back in against her former club, while Elisabeth Terland dropped to the bench.

It was a tough night over the 90 minutes, decided late on by Bayern substitute Momoko Tanikawa, who got the better of her international team-mate Miyazawa.

Before that late winner, the game felt open enough that either team could have scored next, but it ultimately went Bayern’s way.

What else happened on a dramatic European night at Old Trafford

Pernille Harder had given Bayern an early lead before Maya Le Tissier calmly levelled from the spot. Harder struck again midway through the second half, only for Hanna Lundkvist to respond almost immediately with a header to make it 2-2.

But Tanikawa’s late winner leaves us with work to do. The tie is still very much alive though, with just a one-goal deficit and another 90 minutes in Munich to turn it around.
