United players before Atletico Madrid match

We booked our place in the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-finals easing past Atletico Madrid to wrap up a convincing aggregate victory in the knockout play-off.

How we progressed

With injuries to contend with and the fixtures piling up, Marc Skinner rotated his side following Sunday’s WSL win over London City Lionesses. Hanna Lundkvist, Dominique Janssen, Julia Zigiotti and Melvine Malard all returned to the starting line-up.

Under the lights at Leigh Sports Village, Zigiotti kept her fine run going with a classy finish just before the half-hour. Jess Park then lit up the night with a superb long-range strike on the cusp of half-time to put the tie beyond doubt.

A milestone night

As well as continuing to break new ground in Europe, the win marked a special moment for Skinner, who brought up his 100th victory as United boss.

Best reaction to a memorable European match

Jamie told us; "Another polished performance from a very confident United team - let's hope they carry on with a result against Bayern Munich."

Aimee added: "Great night in Leigh. Hope they play the next round at Old Trafford. This side  deserves the chance to play in front of a big crowd at OT."
