Season Review | A miserable 24/25 campaign

We don't know about you but we're glad the season is over.

Chaos off the pitch. Chaos on the pitch. Things can only get better we suppose.

At least we beat city in December

The 2024/25 season will go down as one of the darkest in United’s history. Fifteenth in the Premier League, 18 defeats, and just 44 goals. Our worst top-flight showing in 50 years, rivalled only by the relegation season of 1973/74.

No silverware, a Europa League final loss to Spurs, and no Champions League football next term. For a club built on glory, it is a collapse that cannot be ignored. Now, with RĂºben Amorim taking the reins in November after Ten Hag’s shock exit at the hands of INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, United face a rebuild the fans have been dreading, but one we desperately hope will return the club to its rightful heights.

Were there any positives?

Not many. Beating city back in December was nice. When everyone was ballooning about after Amad scored that late winner, I don't think anyone guessed what would happen for the remainder of the campaign.

Liverpool away in January also offered a window into how Amorim's formation could work when everyone is fit and motivated.

Aside from that, the Europa League run brought us all some amazing moments. Maguire's winner in the final minute against Lyon was special. We'll never forget that atmosphere.

There was also some fantastic away trips. The first trip to Bilbao was great. That was also probably one of our best performances of the season.

What happens now?

We will probably see another huge turnover of players. Evans, Eriksen and Lindelof have already left due to the expiration of their contracts.

It is also expected that Alejandro Garnacho might leave alongside permanent departures for Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Antony.

We have also been linked with the signings of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha who would be fantastic additions to our attack. The midfield is also a massive concern but that could also be due to the formation as we regularly overran in the middle of the park.
