Senne Lammens | 7.5
An assured debut for the Belgian. Made one brilliant save, collected crosses with confidence and played some neat passes under pressure. Looked composed throughout.
Leny Yoro | 7
Used his reach well to snuff out danger from balls played in behind. Even ventured forward at times to support attacks. Calm and mature performance.
Matthijs de Ligt | 7
A commanding display at the heart of defence. Read the game superbly, clearing danger on several occasions. Looks at home as the central sweeper in Amorim’s back three.
Luke Shaw | 6.5
A few nervy moments in the box where his physicality could have cost United, but generally solid. The least convincing of the three centre-backs without being poor.
Amad | 7.5
Clearly eager to impress against his former club. Full of running and intent, even if the end product wasn’t always there. His energy gave Sunderland constant problems.

Diogo Dalot | 6.5
Not his best outing in possession, with several overhit crosses and loose passes. However, his long throw directly led to Sesko’s goal and offered a surprising weapon.
Casemiro | 6.5
Started well, showing bite and control in midfield, but lost his discipline with a rash challenge that earned him a booking. Fluffed a good shooting chance too.
Bruno Fernandes | 7.5
Almost scored with a curling effort that brushed the post. Looked liberated going forward, with little need to drop deep. When that happens, United usually play well.
Mason Mount | 8
Took his goal with the composure of a player desperate to prove a point. His sharpness and movement brought a new dimension to United’s attack. Amorim’s faith in him paid off handsomely. United fan Liam C was delighted Mount's performance and said: "He deserves this after all those injury problems. I think he could be key for us between now and the end of the season."

Bryan Mbeumo | 7.5
Delivered a perfect cross for Mount’s opener and caused real problems in the first half. Faded after the break, but his attacking intent set the tone early on.
Benjamin Sesko | 8
A proper centre-forward’s performance. Linked play smartly, created space for Mount’s goal and then finished clinically for United’s second. Full of confidence and purpose. Olivia T told us: "These last two goals will give him so much confidence."
