Bryan Mbeumo scored twice as we survived a late scare against Brighton to claim a third successive Premier League win for the first time since February 2024, moving us up to fourth in the table.

How our players rated

Senne Lammens | 7

He once again looked utterly unfazed by the responsibility of being in the United goal in front of 75,000 people, confidently claiming crosses and inspiring assurance throughout the team. He is getting the basics right, doing so quietly and without any chest-thumping, back-slapping or exaggerated celebrations to project leadership.

Leny Yoro | 7

Looked calm, composed and professional at the back. Didn’t put a foot wrong and should be an instant starter from now on.

Matthijs de Ligt | 7

He looked strong once again, producing some important interventions at the back. It is going from strength to strength for the Dutchman. After the match, he posted on Instagram: “Another important win. We keep pushing together, game by game! “

Luke Shaw | 6.5

He was solid for most of the game, though a few uneasy moments stemming from complacency place him slightly below his centre back partners. He did register an assist.

Amad | 7

Very impressive once again, offering a real threat going forward while comfortably shutting down Brighton’s attacks on the right side. He is starting to look entirely natural in his new role.

Casemiro | 9

He scored and provided an assist, but the most impressive aspect was his performance in midfield. He rolled back the years once more, and a new contract should be considered. He was the best player on the pitch, and his absence was immediately felt when he went off.

Bruno Fernandes | 7.5

He controlled the play from midfield and made Baleba look like someone who should not be on Manchester United’s 2026 shopping list. He did not score on the day, but as expected, whenever something positive happened for the team, it went through the captain.

Diogo Dalot | 6.5

Solid performance on the left, nothing special. That might sound negative, but that’s exactly what we need in games like this.

Bryan Mbeumo | 9

Scored an excellent goal for his fourth of the season. Threat every time he had the ball and his second goal was massive for United. Man of the match.

Matheus Cunha | 8.5

Scored his first goal with a brilliant finish and was brilliant all-round for United once again. One user on X posted: “Cunha is going to be the Rooney of this new generation.”

Benjamin Sesko | 7.5

This was an understated performance, with his involvement in the buildup contributing to all three goals, and he also provided an assist. Liam C told us: "I just love how hard he works off the wall. Must be a huge help to Cunha and Mbuemo."

The substitutes

Ayden Heaven | 6

Looked rocky initially when he came on, likely due to a lack of game time. However, he was key in the build-up to the decisive fourth goal. We have a feeling that he will become very important for United over the next few seasons.

Kobbie Mainoo | 6

He was far from his best, at times sloppy in possession, but gradually grew into his cameo, finishing much stronger than he began. He clearly needs more minutes on the pitch. Suffering from a lack of European football which would have given him those extra minutes.

Patrick Dorgu | 5.5

Still not convinced he’s suited for a wing-back role. Needs to improve in the final third but that will come with time. Always give 100% which hasn’t always been the case for United in recent seasons.

Joshua Zirkzee | 6

Held the ball up well but was poor for Brighton’s second goal. Another player that probably needs more minutes over the next few months.

Manuel Ugarte | 6

Was ok. Seems to attract a lot of criticism from United fans at times but entered the match at a strange point.
