Matheus Cunha, another summer arrival, got the scoring underway with his first Premier League goal for the club. But, it is Mbeumo’s consistency that has caught Rooney’s eye as the standout addition this term.
Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show, the former striker said: "Mbeumo has been consistent with his performances, I think that's the main thing.
"If you're consistently getting in the right positions, getting chances, you will score. When you're a forward and you score goals, you enjoy scoring goals and that feeling keeps going."

There has been special praise for Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko.https://t.co/TjY9zsawHC
The 26-year-old already has four goals from nine Premier League appearances in a United shirt and also found the net in the EFL Cup earlier this season.
Rooney pointed to his past form at Brentford as proof of his potential, where he scored 20 goals in 38 league games, and United fans will be hoping he can replicate that tally this term.
"His confidence is very high at the minute," Rooney added.
"Hopefully that continues because he's certainly been the best signing for United this season."

Some eyebrows were raised when United opted to spend most of their transfer budget on three forwards this summer. However, after this recent run, this now looks like decent business.
Sesko has played his part, but it has been the performances of Cunha and Mbeumo that have United fans buzzing and starting to look up the table and a push towards Champions League qualification.
When talking about the players, former United player Gary Neville has reportedly said: “They are players who I love watching in a red shirt. What I like about them is the hunger, their courage to take the ball, they’re positive, they do everything I think a United forward should do.”
