The Manchester United midfielder is in Asia with his national side, with friendlies against South Korea and Japan providing preparation for next year's World Cup finals.
Having returned to United’s starting line-up to help Ruben Amorim’s men secure a 2-0 win over Sunderland, following a one-game suspension for the red card he received against Chelsea, Casemiro is keen to put into practice the ideas of newly appointed Selecao coach Carlo Ancelotti, building on a successful period under the Italian at Real Madrid.
Casemiro will wear the captain’s armband in the absence of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson and Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos. Brazilian media report this will be the 17th time he has led his country, the most recent occasion being in October 2023 against Uruguay.
United team-mate Matheus Cunha is also in the squad and could feature in Friday’s match against South Korea in Seoul, before Japan visit on Tuesday in Tokyo.
The challenges Brazil face during this international break are expected to provide valuable preparation for next summer’s tournament across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
More players on international duty
Bryan Mbeumo came off the bench to net for Cameroon in a vital 2-0 win away at Mauritius.
Our August Player of the Month has started life at Old Trafford well and grabbed the goal in stoppage time of the World Cup qualifier, marking a positive start to the Reds’ players getting involved with their national sides during the international break.
