Players from both sides are heading back from international duty as the October break wraps up, and there’s no easing back into it as a trip to Anfield is about as big as it gets.

United will be looking to build on the momentum from our win over Sunderland before the pause in domestic football. The hosts, meanwhile, are trying to stop the rot after three straight defeats, the latest coming against Chelsea at the start of the month.

It’s never an easy place to go, but with confidence high and key players finding form, this could be the perfect time to put things right on Merseyside.

United team news

We will hopefully head into Sunday's game with a relatively clean bill of health. Lisandro Martinez continues his rehabilitation from a knee injury sustained in February this year.

Noussair Mazraoui rejoined the Morocco squad after missing our previous two matches, but he did not play for the Atlas Lions as they concluded their World Cup qualifying campaign with a perfect record. The 27-year-old defender had impressed in the victory over Chelsea but was absent for the fixtures against Brentford and Sunderland, with manager Ruben Amorim not anticipating his return until after the international break.

Ayden Heaven came off at half-time in a recent England Under-20 game after receiving treatment on the pitch. We are still waiting for further updates on his situation. Ruben Amorim could provide more information on the young defender as well as any other team news in his pre-match press conference ahead of the trip.

Amazing scenes

Arguably, the best performance under Ruben Amorim as we got a hard-fought point.

We went in level at half-time, but the second half was where things really sparked into life. Lisandro Martinez broke the deadlock with an absolute thunderbolt into the top corner that any striker would dream of scoring. But our joy didn’t last long, as Cody Gakpo levelled things up soon after.

it looked like it was slipping away when Matthijs de Ligt was harshly done for handball and Salah tucked away the penalty. Still, Amad came to the rescue late on, turning in Garnacho’s low cross.
