Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire got the goals as Ruben Amorim’s men battled their way to a massive three points, showing real grit and togetherness throughout.
Cody Gakpo pulled Liverpool level with just over ten minutes to go, but this time it was United’s day, ending a long wait for victory at Anfield stretching back to 2016.
The away end went wild at full-time, fully aware of how big this result was, as United climbed to ninth in the early Premier League table.
An extraordinary performance and hopefully the start of something special for Ruben Amorim and his team.

Maguire keeps proving the doubters wrong
Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata, Robin van Persie, Carlos Tevez, John O'Shea, Ryan Giggs, Diego Forlan.
Not a long list, is it? That’s the small group of players who’ve scored winning goals for United at Anfield in recent memory. And now, you can add Harry Maguire to it.
For a player who has taken more stick than most, Maguire’s story just keeps getting better. The fact he’s still a United player says everything about his resilience and belief. Erik ten Hag was ready to let him go to West Ham, but Maguire dug his heels in. When asked back in August about his future after being left out of the opening game, he said he believed he’d get his chances. And he’s been true to his word.
He never hides. He never sulks. He just gets on with it and gives everything for the shirt.

There were raised eyebrows when Amorim picked him ahead of Leny Yoro at Anfield, but the manager knew exactly what he was doing. Maguire’s presence in the box turned out to be massive. In those chaotic final minutes, he stood tall, winning everything in the air, throwing himself into tackles, and keeping his cool while Liverpool piled on the pressure.
And then came the moment that will live long in United folklore. Six yards out, meeting Bruno Fernandes’s perfect volleyed cross, Maguire powered his header home. The winner. The roar from the away end said it all.
A huge goal. A huge performance. And another reminder that Harry Maguire is made of strong stuff.
