A stunning volley from Amad Diallo ensured Ruben Amorim’s side left the City Ground with a point, a result that, on the balance of play, felt a fair reflection for both teams. A certain someone won't be getting his haircut now for at least a few weeks.
A closer look at what happened
United gained the lead when Casemiro powered in a header from a corner that Forest felt should never have been given.

The hosts, however, turned the match around in a frantic two-minute spell after the interval. Morgan Gibbs-White muscled past Amad to reach Ryan Yates’ deep cross from the right, before Nicolo Savona capitalised on the chaos that followed another delivery from the same flank, calmly finishing after Igor Jesus’ header ricocheted through a crowded six-yard box.
Ruben Amorim’s side, though, showed a resilience that has often been missing in recent years. Instead of folding, they rallied. Bruno Fernandes went so close to equalising as he clipped the post.
United needed a spark of magic, and it came in the form of Amad’s brilliance. Mbeumo’s corner from the right was met once more by Casemiro, and although Dorgu was unable to turn it in, the clearance fell invitingly to the edge of the area, where the Ivorian guided a precise volley through a cluster of players and into the net.
There was almost a dramatic winner in stoppage time, but Murillo’s goal-line clearance denied Amad a second and ensured the spoils were shared.
