United Review | Everton away
Everton 0 - 1 United
Another solid win and a decent away performance from Carrick’s United side.

Benjamin Šeško made sure Manchester United’s first ever trip to Hill Dickinson Stadium was one to remember, grabbing the only goal of the game to seal a fifth win in six matches under Michael Carrick.
The Slovenian had rescued a point at West Ham United last time out, and he was decisive again here, sliding the ball home after 71 minutes to edge a tight contest at Everton’s new ground.
Šeško timed his run perfectly onto Bryan Mbeumo’s pass and bent his finish beyond Jordan Pickford, just 15 minutes after Carrick sent him on.
At the other end, Senne Lammens stood firm as the hosts pressed without reward. Everton had plenty of the ball but never truly troubled United’s back line, as we claimed our first away clean sheet of the season.
Best fan reaction
Marcus: A war of attrition is what most fans expected and that's ultimately what we got. It was probably our worst performance under Michael Carrick but we came through with a top-notch breakaway goal.
Anthony: Another solid win despite Everton’s stifling approach, sitting deep and lumping everything into the box, aiming for Senne Lammens at every corner. Europe is firmly in sight. Top job from Carrick.
Dave: These are exactly the matches you have to win if you want to compete at the highest level. Not at our fluent best, but we found a way and that matters.
Jon: This is the sort of game Manchester United would have lost comfortably under the previous regime. Progress is clear.
