Goals from Patrick Dorgu, Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes sealed an impressive win on the south coast as Michael Carrick's side wrapped up the season in style.

United could easily have added more against Fabian Hurzeler's team, with Amad Diallo, Dorgu and even Harry Maguire all going close during an entertaining afternoon. It was also a memorable day for Fernandes, who broke the all-time Premier League assist record.

Leny Yoro also threatened with a header as United pushed for more, but three goals and three points proved more than enough as the Reds secured a third-place finish to end the campaign on a high.

Fernandes breaks all-time Premier League assist record

Fernandes has written his name into Premier League history after breaking the record for the most assists in a single season.

His assist for Patrick Dorgu against Brighton & Hove Albion was his 21st assist of the campaign, moving him ahead of both Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne, who previously shared the record with 20.

It capped another remarkable season from the United captain, whose creativity and leadership have been central to the side’s success under Michael Carrick.

Fernandes was also presented with the Premier League Playmaker award on Sunday after ending the season with more assists than any other player in the division.

A great achievement for Luke Shaw

Shaw has become just the fifth United outfield player to start every match of a Premier League campaign.

In what has been a much improved campaign, this statistic made even more impressive by the fact that he has achieved the feat having primarily been deployed as a left centre-back earlier on this season, before the arrival of Michael Carrick as head coach in January saw Shaw move more predominantly into a left-back role.
