Amorim as Manchester United manager

Throughout his time at Old Trafford, Amorim often told supporters they would have to "suffer". Unfortunately, that proved to be exactly what happened.

A 15th-place finish and defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final marked one of the darkest periods the club has experienced in decades.

When Amorim left, many fans were disappointed that he did not release a message thanking supporters for sticking by the team through such a miserable campaign.

Now, after being appointed AC Milan manager, Amorim has admitted that was a mistake and has apologised for failing to acknowledge the backing United fans gave him during his difficult spell at the club.

Amorim, who managed Sporting before arriving in M16, spoke of his happiness to be back in footbal and claims he’s even hungrier for success now at a new in AC Milan.

The man himself speaks

The Portuguese man said: "It’s an honour to be here. I’m so happy. I can feel that here people feel the club. I love Milanello, I think the place has history, it’s quiet. People say that it is old. I love that kind of old, everything is there. I love the staff."

"I feel at home. I follow Milan since I’m young, so it’s personal. It’s hard to take this kind of challenge. The belief that I had at Sporting, is the same belief I have now…with a little bit more hunger."
