Our first victory of pre-season

Shea Lacey opened the scoring with our first goal of 2026/27, producing a superb curling finish that gave goalkeeper Leopold Wahlstedt no chance.

Joshua Zirkzee doubled our advantage shortly after half-time, before a host of changes on the hour mark saw a much younger United side take to the pitch.

That did little to slow us down, though, as United added three more goals through Jacob Devaney, Harry Amass and Ethan Williams.

It was an excellent start to pre-season for Michael Carrick's Reds, with plenty of reasons to be cheerful.

The unofficial man of the match was undoubtedly Zirkzee. United’s number 11 has endured plenty of criticism at Old Trafford since arriving from Bologna in 2024.

He does not quite look like a natural number nine, while he has struggled to displace Bruno Fernandes in the number 10 role. However, there are moments when Zirkzee’s technical quality shines through, reminding us why he has occasionally drawn comparisons with the likes of Dimitar Berbatov.positives to take from the trip to Trondheim.
