Despite a poor perfoemance and result against AC Milan, Peter Shaw believes there's no need to panic

He believes that we still need a couple of signings but there's the basis of a decent squad

Things were starting to look positive for a big. Some good performances against PSG and Atlético Madrid had given everyone a clear boost.

However, defeat against AC Milan has resulted in a ridiculous amount of negativity from fans.

There's no need for all this negativity

What I’m finding increasingly weird about the discussion around United on social media is that it seems even more negative than it was 12 months ago, when we were coming off the back of a 15th-place finish.

There are hundreds, maybe even thousands, of posts every day from people having some sort of mad, almost existential crisis about the state of the club.

Over the previous 12 years, people have complained about our transfer policy and now we're moving away from singing big stars on massive contracts.

The signing of Santos looks positive

I absolutely despise the Glazers and Ratcliffe, but even so, the mood around United at the moment is all getting a bit strange. This isn't helped by the likes of so-called fan Mark Goldbridge who seems to love spreading negativity online. 

Bryan Mbeumo impresses

With Cameroon not involved at the World Cup, Bryan Mbeumo was one of the first players back at Carrington this summer, and he has wasted little time showing exactly what he can bring to Manchester United.

The forward has looked sharp throughout pre-season, demonstrating his versatility by operating effectively on the right and through the middle.

Mbeumo was outstanding in the 2-1 victory over Atletico de Madrid in Stockholm, scoring both goals in a performance that underlined his quality. He was also on target against reigning Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain, finding the equaliser, before producing a perfectly weighted cross for Joshua Zirkzee to finish against Leeds.
