city guilty of 114 charges

It is difficult to know exactly what will happen next, but some United fans have already wondered whether city could ultimately be stripped of some of their Premier League titles.

David de Gea and Brandon Williams have both taken to social media, with our former goalkeeper joking: "So, let's talk. How many Premier League titles have I won, then?"

United finished runners-up in the Premier League in 2011/12, 2017/18 and 2020/21. That has led to some speculation that we could potentially add more titles to our trophy cabinet if city's victories were taken away. Realistically, though, that still feels like a very unlikely outcome.

Other ways it could impact us

The situation could affect United in other ways too. Omar Berrada, Stephen Torpey and Jason Wilcox all previously worked at city before moving into senior roles at Old Trafford.

It remains unclear whether the Premier League will seek to punish individuals connected to the charges against city. If it does, however, United could find themselves with several important decision-makers under scrutiny, given their previous links with the club.

Is it time to bring the ticker banner back?

For United fans, the case is therefore about more than just what happens to city's trophy haul. There could potentially be wider consequences across the game, including at Old Trafford.
