Atletico Madrid 2 - 0 United

A frustrating night for 10-man United in Madrid

Author | Liam C

Goals from Pablo Barrios and Ademola Lookman condemned us to our first defeat in the Champions League this season.

A closer look at what happened

United responded well to falling behind inside the opening minute, with Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes both forcing excellent saves from Jan Oblak. However, Leny Yoro's red card and Atletico's second goal left the Reds with a mountain to climb, and we were ultimately unable to avoid defeat.

Carrick will be disappointed with the result, but there is little time to dwell on it as United must quickly turn their attention back to the Premier League. Next up is a trip to Elland Road to face Leeds. Players and fans need to turn up for that one.

Lisandro Martinez takes aim at the board.
