Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire got the goals as Ruben Amorim’s men battled their way to a massive three points, showing real grit and togetherness throughout.
How the players rated
Senne Lammens | 7.5
Brings calmness to the side. Has made a massive difference. Everyone in front of him suddenly looks a lot more confident. Could do nothing about Liverpool's goal given the circumstances.
Diogo Dalot | 6.5
Had some reckless moments in the first half, but wasn’t punished for it. Otherwise, that was a solid performance considering he was slightly out of position.
Matthijs De Ligt | 8
Another solid game. Could have got on the scoresheet himself.
Harry Maguire | 9
Diego Forlan. John O'Shea. Juan Mata. The big lad from Sheffield joins the ranks of United cult heroes who scored winning/important goals Anfield.

Luke Shaw | 8
Kept Salah quiet and maintained his concentration. Starting to almost look best to his best.
Amad | 8
A big threat in the first half. Unfortunate with the yellow card, which felt harsh. Another impressive performance.
Casemiro | 7
Solid out of possession. Has been calmer in possession over the last two games. The correct decision to bring him off when he was on a yellow card.

Bruno Fernandes | 7
A good performance from the captain aside from a really poor ten minutes in the second half. The assist for Maguire certainly made up for that.
Bryan Mbeumo | 8
Scored early and worked tirelessly throughout. Already has the makings of a United cult hero. A goal at Anfield will always help with that.

Mason Mount | 7
Didn’t have many moments but brings balance to the side with his work rate. He looks almost integral to the team now.
Matheus Cunha | 7
Still waiting for a goal contribution, but allowed United to breathe with his driving runs in the second half.
Substitutes
Patrick Dorgu | 6
Worked hard, even if he lacked a bit of quality. Seems to attract some unfair criticism from parts of the support.
Manuel Ugarte | 6
Kept it simple and kept his shape when the game was starting to get a bit chaotic.
Benjamin Sesko | 5.5
Provided an outlet but could have done better in some promising attacking transitions. Worked hard.
Lenny Yoro | 8
Excellent cameo. Cleared plenty of balls in the box and delivered exactly what you want from a defensive substitution.
