United 1 - 1 Tottenham Hotspur

A draw that felt like a defeat. A stoppage-time equaliser meant we had to settle for a point in the Premier League against ten man Spurs.

After a goalless first half, Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring with a fine finish, following good work from Matheus Cunha.

Tottenham ended the game a man down when substitute Rodrigo Bentancur saw red. Despite their numerical disadvantage, Dominic Solanke glanced a header beyond Samme Lammens in stoppage time to rescue a point for the visitors.

The boos at full-time was evidence of wider frustration. A massive missed opportunity to move up the Premier League table.

A closer analysis of what happened

Pre match at Old Trafford

Reds boss Michael Carrick made two changes to the side that drew away at Fulham before the extended international break. Amad returned from injury, having been ruled out so far this season, with Leny Yoro also making his first Premier League start of the campaign.

Carlos Baleba impresses on his debut

After working his way back from the injury he arrived from Brighton with, summer signing Carlos Baleba finally made his United debut.

The Cameroon international came on just before the hour mark as part of a triple substitution and was on the pitch when compatriot Bryan Mbeumo fired us into the lead in the 73rd minute.

Baleba showed some promising touches and brought a noticeable physical presence to our midfield. It was an encouraging first outing, particularly after a difficult first half for United, and hopefully a sign of what he can offer as he settles into life at Old Trafford.
